Tip #1: Above all else, do this for YOU!

This is your time to feel beautiful, sensuous, and confident. Whether you are doing this for yourself, or as a gift for someone special, make sure that you are doing it for YOU first and foremost. The better you feel about yourself, the more amazing your photos will be! This session goes beyond the studio. When you embrace this as a celebration of you, it will elevate your confidence. When that feeling of confidence is steaming off your chest your partner is going to see that, and I promise that is the best gift of all. This seeps into other parts of your life as well. I have legit had women tell me the confidence this session brought them courage to go for a better job and ask for more money. This actually happened in 2022. Watching her face tell me her story was the most moving and powerful feeling. To see a woman who felt life was on the rocks and then 4 weeks later slay her interview and land a position 3 times better is all the proof I need to know this is more about you than anyone else. In the blog Boudoir Builds Self Esteem for Real I talk about things that have actually happened.

Tip #2: Choosing the Type of Session and Style

There are many different types of boudoir sessions, and it's important to choose the right one for you. If you're not sure what you want, ask your photographer for recommendations. There are three main types of boudoir sessions: traditional, glamour, and artistic.

Traditional boudoir is more intimate and sensual, while glamour is more about showing off your saucy side. Artistic boudoir is a mix of both, and is a great option if you're not sure what you want. Whichever type of session you choose, make sure it's something that makes you feel comfortable and confident.

Tip #3: Choosing a Body Positive Boudoir Photographer

If you're considering a boudoir photo shoot, it's important to find a professional who is body positive. You should feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera, and the artist capturing you should make you feel like the elegant, gorgeous person that you are. Look for a photographer who celebrates all types of bodies and who will make you feel comfortable and confident in your own skin.

Tip #4: Choosing Lingerie & Outfits for Your Curvy Boudoir Session !

One of the most important aspects of preparing for your photo session is choosing the right lingerie and outfits. The right lingerie will not only make you feel empowered and confident, but it will also flatter your figure and highlight your best assets. When choosing intimate pieces for your boudoir session, keep in mind that less is often more. A simple, elegant bra and panty set or a lacy teddy can be much more effective than a flashy, over-the-top outfit. If you're not sure what to choose, consult with your photographer or ask for advice from a friend who's familiar with boudoir photography.

Tip #5: Hair, Waxing & Nail Appointments – No Spray Tanning!

It’s important to make sure your hair, waxing and nails are all done before your photo session. You want to look your best, and that includes having everything looking neat and tidy. However, don’t go overboard with the spray tanning! A little bit of color is fine, but you don’t want to look like you’ve been dipped in a vat of orange paint.

Book that nail appointment, and if you are curious what my go to nail colors are check out my blog post, 5 Best Nail Colors for your Boudoir Session.

Trim up the hedges ;) Unless you are au natural, I highly recommend trimming your front and yes even your backyard. You can go the lawnmower route, but if you plan ahead, go for the professional experience of a wax or sugaring.

I personally go for a sugar every 6 weeks, and it was the best choice for my life. I go see Aly at Sugar Plum in Bellevue. She is AMAZING and works with all bodies and individuals.

 Tip #6: Eat Before!

The morning session, make sure to eat something! You don't want to be feeling faint or dizzy during your shoot. Eat a protein rich breakfast. Also bring a little snack or light meal will do the trick and help you feel your best.

Tip #7: Show Up with a Sense of Adventure

When you show up for your session, be sure to bring a sense of adventure! This is the time to try something new and have some fun. Be open to trying new poses and experimenting with different looks. Your photographer will guide you along the way and help you capture some amazing images. Still curious about how I pose curvy women? Go to this blog post on how I pose plus size .

What Should I Wear for My Saucy Photoshoot?

There are a few things to keep in mind when choosing what to wear for your boudoir experience. First, you want to choose something that makes you feel confident and beautiful. Second, you want to choose something that flatters your figure, and pick things that hug you gently. This means, no babydolls and no spanx. The babydoll is essentially the mumu of lingerie. I don't want you in a tent and I don't want you to be so confined you cannot move. Lastly, you want to choose something that is comfortable to wear. What is in-between piece of lingerie that is perfect? It is the bodysuit! Trust me on this one. It is my job to elongate you and show off your curves on the right places.

With those things in mind, here are a few suggestions for what to wear for your saucy photoshoot:

A form-fitting dress or top and bottom combo. This will show off your curves and give you a sexy, confident look.

A lacy lingerie set. This will accentuate your curves and make you feel like a sultry goddess.

A flowing robe that we use as a prop. This will drape over your curves in a flattering way and make you feel both comfortable and beautiful.

Whatever you choose to wear, make sure it makes you feel sexy and confident. That is the most important thing! If you have any questions

This is a safe place where bold women come, where self-love is encouraged, nurtured and celebrated. In this studio we bring out your inner goddess and allow you to indulge in some well-deserved self-love. Every body is beautiful and it is a good thing to show body. Embrace your curves.

The most important thing to remember is choosing a professional boudoir photographer whose studio is a safe place for all different body types to embrace their contours.

As a woman myself, growing up as a teenager in the 90’s with the waif look in fashion, I was always super critical of my own body. Thankfully we are in a time of body acceptance and learning to move past those mentally damaging views. All the same, we want to feel saucy and accentuate the curves we love. Always communicate with me what you want and what you don’t want.

The Perfect Role Model to Follow - Ms A

Meet Ms A, a shining example of self love and a true ambassador of body love. Being confident in your own skin is truly the success of a masterful boudoir session. Trust in yourself, trust in me and together we will create magic <3

So many women that walk through my door come in with a slice of apprehension. That is totally normal and 100% okay. You are probably meeting me for the first time and I am asking you to be vulnerable. You have chosen to walk through the doors and share a side of you that rarely gets seen. If you are struggling with self image ideals of yourself that makes it even harder. While our perception is that plus size women struggle the most, I am here to tell you that all women struggle. This story is more about it being a state of mind than anything.

The tub is a fun set and addition to your session

So much of our worth has been tied to body image. While women are mostly impacted, I do want to recognize men go through it too. So if you are man reading this, know I hear you and I see you. The majority of individuals I work with are women and I can empathize with my gender. As a woman myself, I understand all of the things in life you are asked to do and maintain. I feel like a superhero on some days and then on others I feel like a complete failure. When it comes to my body that is a constant love and hate. I will admit that lately it is mostly love.

So on with the story of Ms A. When she contacted me she told me that she had done another session a few years ago. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t curious. I wanted to know about her previous experience. She told me she loved it and wanted to do it again. She wanted a different look. There was a dark and moody sultry vixen waiting to be unleashed in my studio.

When Ms A came to the studio I was blown away by her excitement. She was ready to go and she was the most prepared of anyone I have ever had come in. This was not her first rodeo and to top it off she is a total lingerie connoisseur. Plus size lingerie is not as readily available or easy to find. Thankfully in the past 5 years we have had a really amazing influx of great brands emerge. I will cover that later on, back to our story.

Ms A, opened up her suitcase and it felt like a steam trunk of glamour gasped for a breath of fresh air. If I asked “Do you have fishnet thigh highs?” She said YES! “do you have a black garter to match? “ She said YES!

This chic had everything. She was ready to flaunt her assets and 100% trusting in my ability to mold her into the light.

Right at that moment I knew this session was going to be an explosion of fireworks and she was a masterpiece in the making.

The most important thing you can do for your session is relax and learn to love an appreciate your body as it is today. It is through truly loving your skin, truly appreciating your shape and loving this vessel that carries you through this life. We cannot exchange it for a different model so learn love yourself.

Many women will ask how I pose them if they are plus size. I will pose you just as I pose anyone else. If you can do the pose I will put you in it. The most important thing in this case is bringing the right size lingerie for you. Don’t bring in a baby doll that is going to look like a tent, get a form fitting bodysuit, bustier or anything that shapes your body. Ms A wears a piece that forms to her body and I posed her in my favorite floor pose.

All Bodies are beautiful

And no matter what angle or pose I wanted her in she was game. Communication is key and I want to know if I put you in a pose if it is uncomfortable. The other really important thing you being on the day of your session is your voice. Let me know what you are thinking. I am not a mind reader and when you tell me what you are thinking or feeling I can serve you better.

Bring in something fun that you might have thought of! Want to feel like a Queen? Bring in your crown!

Not everything you bring in needs to be lingerie either. It was a last minute decision that Ms A made to throw in this fun tulle skirt. We ended up totally getting this Betsy Johnson moment! If there is something you think might be fun, bring it. You have your chance to shine and express your personality in a safe open environment. If you knew the childhood I had you would know it is pretty difficult to shock me.

Ms A is free in the moment and feels like diva and lets it all out. Her express is of total power and comfort. This is why this image is so successful. She believed in herself then and continues to do so today.

We all have insecurities we want to overcome. Some things may sound trivial to one person but are everything to another person. You are free to share those blocks with me.

My goal at the end of the day is that you feel like a Pretty Woman! While I know that looks are not who we actually are, if you feel happy about your outside it does help your inside.

If you look closely at her shoulder you will see her daily affirmation “Pretty Woman”

Boudoir Builds Self-Esteem, for real!

You walk though so many fires in this lifetime. Some fires are easier to extinguish and some leave lasting scars. How can you learn to live with those scars and appreciate the journey? How can you see the beauty in the pain?

 Confidence is Intoxicating

What do you think of when you hear the words boudoir photography? Maybe you think of sexy women in lingerie, strutting their stuff for the camera. Or maybe you think of models with the “perfect” figure, makeup, and hair. Maybe you think I could never do that or I wish that were me.

Boudoir photography is so much more than sensual, intimate photos. It’s about you—learning to love yourself and your body, feeling empowered in your beauty and femininity. No matter what you may think when you look in the mirror, you are strong, sexy, and unique, and your beauty deserves to be celebrated. I talk with so many women of seriously all shapes, sizes, heights and backgrounds. I know how one comment from someone can stick with you for life. I carry a few of those with me for life. No matter how hard I try to push them out and say they don’t mean anything, they linger in the corners of my existence. It’s funny how you can brush off one comment but the other just digs under your skin.

It wasn’t until I went through a few really life changing events that I learned how to live with my insecurities and how to make my confidence build into something brighter than my fears.

Still nervous about getting in front of the camera? Here’s how a boudoir session can help build your self-esteem and confidence.

See yourself in a completely new light.

Boudoir photography allows you to see yourself and your body from a different perspective. Instead of noticing your perceived flaws and disliking your body, boudoir can help you see just how incredible and beautiful you are. Spending a day getting pampered and strutting your stuff is more than just a good time—it can completely change your self-image. When you stop to see how gorgeous you truly are, you begin to appreciate yourself and your body a little bit more. Plus, you’ll have those stunning images to look back at on days when you’re just not feeling yourself to remind you of how sexy you are.

Show yourself a little more love.

I think we could all admit that we’re a little better at loving others than loving ourselves. But every single one of us deserves love, and you definitely deserve to love yourself. A boudoir shoot can help you feel more confident about the way you look and more comfortable in the skin you’re in. That’s a big deal! As women, we see so many negative images from the media and people around us about what we should and shouldn’t look like. Boudoir can help you push away all that talk and learn to better love yourself!

Step outside your comfort zone.

If you’ve considered doing a boudoir session, chances are you’ve thought that you could never look as sexy or confident as the women in those images. But guess what? Those women have things about their bodies they don’t like to, but they took a leap of faith and reminded themselves that they are beautiful. You can do the same! A boudoir session takes you out of your normal, day-to-day life and shows you the sexiness and beauty that you often just don’t see.

Celebrate you—and have fun doing it!

One of the most intimidating things about a boudoir session for many women is getting nearly or completely nude in front of a photographer. Trust me, I get it! But it’s my job to help you feel completely at ease. After all, I’m here to capture your beauty and make you feel like the gorgeous woman you are. Boudoir is a fun opportunity to celebrate who you are and to bring your sexy self out of hiding! You are allowed to start at whichever level you want. You just need to tell me your comfort zone.

Feel a sense of empowerment.

Let’s face it, we all have insecurities. But getting treated like a celebrity for a few hours can certainly help you fully embrace your natural beauty and sexiness. And once you see your images, you’ll be blown away by how incredibly gorgeous you really are. Those photos will always be around to remind you of your beauty and help you rediscover that self-confidence anytime you need it.

No matter your age or where you are in your life, you deserve to love and celebrate your beauty. A professional boudoir shoot can help you do that and allow you to see yourself as the gorgeous and incredible woman you truly are.

The  Importance  of  Using a Makeup Artist During Your Boudoir Session

The Importance of Using a Makeup Artist During Your Boudoir Session, and how to get the exact look YOU want:

Communication is Imperative

This article was written with the Makeup Artist in mind - communicating to the Photographer, how to make sessions a positive experience, but we find that the client can also help make their end-vision, a masterpiece, but knowing the back-end-behind-the-scenes-goings-on, of how YOUR final images, HAPPEN!

Carolina-Barbosa-51.jpg
Celebrate-your-body-02.jpg
knock-out-boudoir-seattle.jpg

Communicating your creative vision to the makeup artist before the shoot is vital. You think this one would be a no brainer, but you’d be surprised. Let’s start out with the obvious thing here first: no one is a mind reader. Keeping a chain of communication between the entire creative team working on a shoot is essential. This includes mood boards, pinterest and wardrobe. Please keep in mind hair styles are dependent on what they have to start with. This allows the makeup artist to come prepared with everything they need for the shoot. We have to lug around a lot of stuff, and if we can lighten our load, it helps us tremendously. It also keeps us organized. If we have a solid idea of what each look will be on each model, we’ll be more prepared and will move more quickly through each look.

Boudoir-glam-curves-molly-blair-seattle-2.jpg

Harmony is everything. Sometimes a shoot is just a photographer, a model, and a makeup artist. Sometimes a shoot is a photographer, photographer’s assistant, makeup artist, hair stylist, makeup artist’s assistant, art director, editor, stylist, and an army of models. Shoots can range from anything in between these two and more depending on the shoot, the client, the purpose of the shoot, and the budget. It’s important to have all the moving parts working towards one goal. If everyone is confused, things won’t run smoothly and the shoot will be stressful, forced, and limited in time. Communication is the key to keep everything fun, friendly, and productive.

Be Patient:

Don’t rush the Makeup Artist. Yes, we’re used to working under pressure, but I’ve worked on shoots where I haven’t even taken out my brushes yet and the photographer is asking me if I’m done. This is another case where communication is key. If we know how many looks we need to get done in one day of shooting, we’ll have a better idea of what looks we can realistically complete in the time frame given and whether or not we need to bring an assistant. Also, plan to have the MUA and styling team come very early to set up their stations and get ready. If you’re rushing and putting major pressure on the MUA, you might make things take longer since we’ll be stressed or scrambling.

Healing Fresh Wounds and Breaking Self Doubt

Journey to Living Body Positive. Healing wounds and breaking Self Doubt By Molly Blair Of Seattle Boudoir & Company In Seattle, Washington

My friend Eldika is one such brave woman. She has fought the world all these years and come out stronger after every struggle. The day of our shoot was a hard day for her, no sugar coating it.

I had the great opportunity of photographing Eldika at Seattle Boudoir & Company. I loved her attitude and the results came out fabulous.

Eldika’s Story

Here’s Eldika’s story. She wanted to share it in her own words. You can read what she wrote below!

“Self-confidence has never come easy to me. Let me rephrase that: ACTUAL self-confidence has never come easy to me. I’ve been good at standing proud, sticking up for myself, and being in command. But, until recently, it had not been very honest.

I grew up on the border in El Paso, Texas. As a child, I was considered too black to laugh at jokes spoken in Spanish and too Hispanic for cornrows. As a teen, I was mocked for playing bass in a punk rock band while also maintaining good grades in school. I participated and excelled in swimming. I was a part of a band, theatre, which wasn’t considered very “punk rock.” Later, I put myself through college. And nursing school full-time with some help from my mother and while still working two jobs. I spent years in my late twenties in an abusive, controlling, manipulative relationship. As a result of this toxic relationship, I still struggle with PTSD, depression, and anxiety.

In 2014, when I left my hometown to start fresh, I was exposed to a different type of adversity. I worked in the NICU units. The color of my skin than my nursing ability was the reason parents refused me to care for their children. Feeling rejected for being too black, or not being black enough, or Mexican enough was one part. Not being punk enough, or enough of a girlfriend was another part of the story. My struggles with my weight were also a barrier others used against me.

In spite of it all, I’ve tried to live a genuine life, which now, at 38, I can finally reflect on. Every hardship, strife, and setback.

I can look at myself in the mirror and, for the first time, speak my truth. These things happened, but they don’t define you. Don’t let them consume you. You came out on top. I can now tell myself and actually believe it. I have worked hard on myself and worked hard to achieve my goals. I grow by the day; I am a beautiful work in progress.

Now I embrace everything about me that others were quick to criticize. I speak my broken Spanish, with pride. I wear my crowns (what I like to call my headwraps), with pride. I blast the dopest jams as loud as my stereo allows, with pride. I advocate for my mental health and the mental health of others with no shame- with pride! I strut my stuff both mentally and literally when I walk into work. Because I am confident in my ability to give outstanding care. I spend my free time shaking all this glorious flab in belly dance classes because it feels good. I refuse to allow anyone to take any of this away from me now. I AM ME AND I AM PROUD! And my confidence, genuine and true, builds daily.

However, posing for a boudoir shoot was not something I ever thought I would have the confidence to do. Yet, somehow, I was drawn to it. To say the experience was cathartic is an understatement.

Molly really knew how to spark my confidence. She drew it out which translated into the most beautiful photos. The first time I saw them, I couldn’t believe these photos were of me. I can’t thank her enough for conveying what I feel within me to something others can see.

Before, it was as though the perceptions of others were what defined me. Now that is no longer the case and this shoot really cemented that inner part of me. I share this because I know most of you struggle with pieces of what I’m saying, too. But, know I am here. I am your ally. My mouth is open to share with you. My ears are open to hear from you. My arms are open to embrace you. You are a boss, babe. OWN IT!”

Be Your Own Woman

Thank you so much, Eldika for giving me a chance to photograph the sassy you. I loved our boudoir session as much as you did. I am sure your story will inspire many. It will help them to be proud of themselves and never give up.

I wish all my readers and clients lots of love and confidence. Those who truly see you will love you. Those who don’t, are not worth investing time in. I want everyone to know I see you for the love you have in you. Love one another, stand by your sister with conviction and pride. Embrace the human next to you. Love is infinite and it does not cost you anything. Moreover, the rewards are amazing!

Sensational Plus Boudoir Photography

Embracing your body and loving her for all she does for your everyday. Celebrating the skin you are in today will elevate you to a higher ground. Confidence breeds beauty, and that comes from within.

Curvy-Boudoir-Seattle-7.jpg

In the years I’ve spent as a boudoir photographer, I have seen women totally confident in their body at every size. Women of all shapes and all sizes find their inner confidence to love the skin that they are in. But when it comes to plus-sized boudoir photography, sometimes people get nervous. Self-doubt and self-consciousness can creep in. So, let me say it loud for everyone in the back: everyone is beautiful enough for a sensational plus-sized boudoir session!

So many women struggle with their weight and their self-image. I’ve been there, too! Sometimes it’s hard to love yourself. We women hold ourselves to a high standard. We’re critical of things that other people may not even see. When it comes to scheduling a boudoir photography session, I hear so many different concerns and self-conscious comments. One of the amazing things about boudoir photography, especially boudoir for plus-sized women is that it can really help you to feel better about yourself.

Struggles with Self-Image

I have been happy with my size and extremely discouraged by my size at various points in my life. I have found that I am happiest when I fully accept myself, and when I take care of my body. The times I was most terrible to my body was when I didn't take care of it. It seemed like a vicious cycle: trying to improve myself while truly loving myself. I did have an ah-ha moment in my late 30's when I realized I was trapped in a terrible cycle of self-sabotage. Now that I take a concerted effort in loving myself, some parts of self-care come easier.

Not all is perfect. I have my days and even weeks where I self-critique beyond what is acceptable. But here are five things that I have learned about loving myself. These five ways to love the skin you are in will help you to prepare for your sensational plus boudoir session!

1. Love the Body You Have Today

Don't wait to drop 10, 20 or even 50 pounds for your boudoir session. Loving your body right now is the first step in taking care of yourself. Love your body just the way it is. Love all the curves, all the edges, and know that even your imperfections are beautiful.

2. Dress for Success

Boudoir photography is all about the pose, the light and the right outfit. I do not change you, I help you pick the right garments to flatter your body. News flash: it is not a babydoll. The right garment for plus boudoir is usually a bodysuit. It gives a long line and lets you flaunt your sexy curves.

Want more info? Book a call with me, and I will point you in the right direction. From your chin down to your toes, I'll point you in the right direction to elongate and accentuate your curves in the right places. I am happy to consult to make sure you know what to wear for your boudoir shoot.

3. Forgive Your Flaws

Stretch marks? We all have them. And it’s ok if you don't like them. I am on the journey too. I have them and truth be told, I hate them, but they are there. I have spent a ton of money on creams that claim they will help them fade. None of them worked. So, while I hate them, I accept them as part of me. I choose to embrace and highlight the features of myself that I love.

A wonderful habit to begin is to start complimenting yourself more. Every morning, compliment your body on a part of it you love. Say it out loud. You can start loving yourself more one piece at a time.

boudoir-session-seattle-12.jpg

4. Unleash Your Sensational Self

It is a powerful experience to let go and shine as the goddess you are. It is my job as a boudoir photographer to show you your Sensational Self though the magic and art of light. You might not see her in the mirror, but I promise you that I can catch her in my camera.

Plus size boudoir

5. Let go of fear

I see so many different women. We are all so unique and all need to be celebrated. You don’t need to drop any weight or drop a few hundred dollars on a skincare regimen. The only thing you need to drop is the blanket of fear that you are not worthy of feeling sensational.

You are worthy.

You are sexy.

You are amazing. Just the way you are.

Don’t let that voice inside your head tell you otherwise. In a sensational plus-sized boudoir session, you will get in touch with that sexy, sultry, sensuous inner goddess that is hiding inside. Don’t be afraid to unleash her. The most confident thing you can put on is self-confidence, and wear it with pride.

Are you ready to meet the sensational inner goddess that lives inside you? Let’s set up a call and talk more about your own plus-sized boudoir session!

And thank you to our sensational hair and makeup artists: Kat St John, Kelsey Hayes, Jessica Rockwell, Quincee Camille — you guys rock!

Ms. C

Ms-C-Old-Hollywood-Boudoir-Seattle-Boudoir-Co_0001.jpg

There are times in our lives when we give so much of ourselves to others that we forget who we are. It is not as if we want to stop giving to those around us, but we need to take time to appreciate how far we have come. Life can be trying, and the heartache can wear on our souls. We can end up feeling like we lose ourselves in the everyday shuffle. The monotony of the day to day can slowly erode our self-confidence and our self-worth.

That’s why I love what I do as a boudoir photographer—I help remind women of their inner beauty. Boudoir shoots help us to remember who we are, and to remember the power we have inside. That was the case for the beautiful and empathic Ms. C, who met up with me here at the 1020 Studio in downtown Seattle.

Old Hollywood Curvy Boudoir Photography

Ms. C is a very nurturing human. Being empathetic is part of who she is. Clearly, in her occupation as a MA in Oncology, she experiences people going through the hardest time of their life. Cancer affects the lives of patients and the lives of their families so deeply. When you are an empath, you absorb that pain. You internalize part of that hardship. After a long day of work, she goes home and cares for her two beautiful children. Being a mom fills Ms. C’s heart to the brim and fuels her soul.

There are no days off when you are a parent—especially when they are little. When tragedy hits during this time of life, it really takes a toll. On you, on your family, on every part of your life. Ms. C is a gorgeous woman with a tender sweet soul.

I was so happy that Ms. C came to the studio for a boudoir session. She was the epitome of old Hollywood glamour. She channeled her inner Marilyn Monroe! Ms. C was simply gorgeous at every angle and with every curve. The outfits and the colors that she chose were so flattering to her stunning complexion.

“We are all of us stars, and we deserve to twinkle.” – Marilyn Monroe

Ms. C, thank you for sharing your light with others. You twinkle so brightly and for this boudoir session, you brought real, curvy Hollywood glamour. It was such a pleasure to be your photographer!

Ms. M

Ms-M-Boudoir-Session-Seattle-Boudoir-Co_0001.jpg

When I first started talking to Ms. M about a boudoir photography session, she was feeling tapped out. She confessed to me that she felt like she had lost some of her allure after being married and having her son. Ms. M shared that she felt like she’d lost a part of herself, and she wanted to see if she still had it.

“It’s all about how you feel on the inside about yourself,” I told her.

I was so excited when she booked her session. She’s exactly the woman who needs a boudoir session. Boudoir photography is all about body positivity, it’s meant to be a gift to yourself more than to anyone else. It should be an uplifting moment where you can rediscover your own inner beauty. Not only that, but it’s a wonderful way to pamper yourself! Ms. M’s husband was 100% on board with her joining me for this empowering experience, which I was so happy to hear. I want to give all the partners out there who encourage their women to take part in body positivity sessions like this one a big round of applause!

Plus-Sized Boudoir Session

I met up with Ms. M at 1020 Studio for her empowering plus-sized boudoir photography session. After some pampering with hair and makeup artist Kelsey Rae Hayes, it was time for us to get to work. Ms. M was absolutely stunning. And what’s more, as the session continued, I could see the confidence in her eyes. I could see how she felt more comfortable in her own skin. She found that allure she’d misplaced and it had been there all along.

I always encourage my clients to bring some items that have personal meaning, so I especially loved the images where she was wearing her husband’s shirt. In each of these images, Ms. M’s inner beauty shines through. Real women have curves, and Ms. M looked amazing at every angle, in all the different outfits she brought.

Probably the best moment of her entire session was actually the day she came to pick up her album. Ms. M said that she felt so much more confidence. I could see it in her face. I am so glad that she has a reminder that she has not lost her allure… it was only tucked away, waiting to be rediscovered.

Body positive boudoir is about learning to love the person you are right now. When you not only accept the body you have but begin to truly love it you will walk with greater confidence.

As a boudoir photographer, it is important to me to showcase all women in beautiful photography sessions. Women come in all shapes and sizes. I wanted a confident woman who broke our social norms. I know there are women out there who want to have a boudoir session but they do not see other women outside of a size 6 showing off their skin. When I met the gorgeous Ms. R… I knew she was perfect.

Body Positive Boudoir Photography | Embrace the Woman You Are

Ms. R is so happy with the skin she is in. I knew she would shine as a body positive model. She is bold inside with a heart of gold. She is beautiful and radiant and her beauty and strength were shown in photo after photo. This boudoir session was more than just taking photos, it was about celebrating her body, her curves, her beauty and who she was.

Every day, embrace the woman you are, love the skin you are in, and truly care for yourself by providing positive, loving words to yourself. We all have aspects of ourselves we want to improve. Maybe it’s your hair. Maybe you don’t like your nose. There is nothing wrong with wanting to be a better version of you! But every day you should hop out of bed with the intention of caring for yourself.

The key ingredient to being the best version of yourself is to love yourself the way you are now. When you love someone unconditionally, you love them just the way they are. Why are you not loving yourself unconditionally? Think, for a moment, about the conversations that you have with yourself. Would you be friends with someone who talked to you the way you talk to yourself? Be gentle with yourself. Choose to speak to yourself kindly. Honor your curves. All bodies are beautiful no matter how big or how small.

Boudoir shoots are so much about trust. You have to be ready to let go of your inhibitions and trust that I am going to see you in the eyes of an artist. As your boudoir photographer, I am going to shed the best light on your body. But with all that said, things do happen. We have wardrobe malfunctions! That’s okay! The best thing to do is laugh it off. You have to realize that whatever bloopers happen during your photo shoot, it has probably happened before.

I believe confidence exudes beauty. Find out what makes you feel like a million buck and do that until you start feeling like a rock star. And, of course, speaking of rock stars, thank you to Ms. R for her fierce, real beauty and for being such an inspiration to curvy girls everywhere.
